Sadly, I don't mean in reference to my company. Rather, the name Kohera crops up in funny places. All I had in mind when I chose it was its Esperanto meaning, which is "coherent", although I have a Google Alert on the name, which seems to be held by some interesting people. Take this article
about Malawi children and the visit that had from Bush. There's a quote from a certain kid:
“I am happy I have seen the President,” said nine year-old Kohera Chalulu
Read more links after the jump.
The last memorable time that I got a hit on this Alert showed a transient but unfortunate name link, when the voices of Hamas were captured on tape (transcripts now only to be found on
ablekaneadventures and a few other sources):
"I am not sorry for what I did and am very proud to have the opportunity to give back double the pain and suffering that the Israelis have caused me," said Kohera, 29, a mother of four serving three life sentences for collaborating with a suicide bomber. "When a Shahid commits a suicide bombing or gets shot he feels great pleasure-no pain-and wants to go back to earth to continue fighting to gain this pleasure and reward again." She described joyfully how she and others distributed candies when they learned of the London bombings last year. "We celebrated the attacks against the long-standing enemies of Islam," she explained.
She would appear to be in prison at this time. Probably best for all of us.
The Maoris use the word "kohera" in their understanding of sleep and its links with spirituality and luck. Kohera would appear to a limb-jerk that sometimes occurs on waking. It's usually a bad omen, and you can read about it in
The religious rites and ceremonies of the Maori:
The Maori has also a firm belief in omens derived from dreams, and from any sudden movements of the body or limbs during sleep, all which signs are believed to be warnings from the Atua.
...
The startings of the limbs or body during sleep are called takiri, some of which are lucky, and some unlucky, each kind being distinguished by a special name.
...
The unlucky takiri are--
The kohera, a starting of the arm and leg of one side of the body in an outward direction.
...
The former takiri do not necessarily denote evil to the individual sleeper, but to any of his companions.
Having now looked up a
Maori word list, I can confirm at least that "kohera" means, to gape, omen and to, um... yawn. Yes, that's right. See the luck/sleep link?
Well, that's another self-indulgent post. But that's what a blog's for, right?

Hadn't realised I'd conveyed so much meaning in such a short article. Seeing as there's no link in this, I don't mind approving it. Strange, especially the end, Hinchie.

That was nice of "Samantha"
I've noticed some very strange pseudo-spam on my blog recently. What I tend to get afterwards though are more comments containing similar text - BUT with links; presumably the initial comment was intended to make way for the dodgy one?hmmm
